The best ideas are simple! This was the opinion of the ScanStar jury when awarding the ScanStar 2015 prize to the Fiskars Home Oy Ab Iittala Ruutu glass packaging manufactured by Pyroll.
It all began at the Iittala glass factory in 1881. Today this success story manifests as a collection of timeless objects designed to enrich people’s everyday lives. Quality, aesthetics and functionality have always been the cornerstones of Iittala design.

The file name is: ScanStar-2015.png ScanStar is a joint Nordic packaging competition that the Scandinavian Packaging Association, SPA has organized since 1969. This year 28 different packages participated in the competition, of which nine received the ScanStar.
Pyroll won the ScanStar with the Fiskars Home Oy Ab Iittala Ruutu glass packaging. The diamond-reminiscent, rhombus-shaped Ruutu is a collection of ten vases with five different sizes and seven different colors. The Ruutu vases are manufactured at the Iittala factory in Finland. The vase designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec provided the idea for the vase-shaped packaging. The Ruutu glass packages were designed in collaboration with Iittala and Pyroll.
The best ideas are simple. According to the ScanStar jury, these packages highlight the products themselves in an excellent way. The packages are very much in line with the product’s brand value. These multipurpose gift packages play a major role in the retail environment. They are ready gifts and don’t require separate packaging. The packages’ colors are inspired by the products themselves and support the products’ color world.
