Pyroll Wins ScanStar 2020 with Domino Campaign Packages

We are proud to announce that the Fazer Domino campaign package conceived by Pyroll / PackageMedia has been awarded the ScanStar today.

Here are the jury’s comments: The Domino cookie boxes have been printed with 1,200 different images sent by consumers of their favorite places in Finland. The package connects the digital and physical worlds. The jury appreciated the packaging solution’s way of engaging consumers of the well-known product with the product. The jury predicts the package will also have collectible value.

So may we present… the Domino campaign packages, when digitality becomes an essential part of packaging. These packages equipped with personal images were hunted throughout Finland in the spring and pictures of the packages were actively shared on Instagram.

ScanStar is a joint Nordic packaging competition that the SPA, or Scandinavian Packaging Association, has organized annually since 1969. ScanStar awards the Nordic countries’ best packages. A total of 17 awards were distributed this year, of which eight went to Finland.

This year the competition was organized by the Finnish Packaging Association. Finland was represented in the jury by Lecturer Hanna Koivula from the University of Helsinki, and CEO Antro Säilä from the Finnish Packaging Association served as jury chairman. Johanna Nikunen from Pakkaus magazine served as the press representative on the jury. Other jury members were Lasse Lavrsen, Toms Gruppen (Denmark), Lars Windeman, Volvo Cars (Sweden), and Ole Anton Bakke, Jotun A/S (Norway). Additionally, Mikael Gallstedt from Stora Enso (Sweden) served as competition observer.

“All companies participating in the competition demonstrate that the respective company takes product development seriously.

I work as a buyer myself and we make it a practice during purchasing situations to ask packaging producers whether they have succeeded in industry competitions. If there has been success, it’s a sign of the desire to develop even better solutions,” says jury member Lars Windeman.
