Pyroll Packaging’s winning streak continued in ScanStar this year as well. Pyroll Packaging won the ScanStar award together with MM Kotkamills with a takeaway concept created for Tammela Stadium and Ilves Veikkausliiga.
ScanStar is an annual Nordic competition for packaging industry players, organized by the Scandinavian Packaging Association (SPA). The competition has a long tradition, having been held since 1969. The competition is open to all packaging designed, manufactured, or used in the Nordic countries, and is organized in rotation by the packaging associations of Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. This year the competition was organized by Svenska Förpackningsgillet. The competition included 39 packaging innovations, of which 25 were awarded. Of the awards, ten went to Finland, eight to Sweden, four to Norway, and three to Denmark. Well done Finland!
The ScanStar award-winning cardboard cups tailored for Tampere Stadium and Ilves Veikkausliiga, photographed on the green field of Tampere Stadium. This ScanStar-winning packaging concept has been enjoyed at Tampere Stadium in Tampere since this spring. This takeaway packaging series includes cups, two different-sized popcorn boxes, and a nacho tray.
The packaging series design strongly supports the Ilves Veikkausliiga brand. The green-yellow designs are guaranteed to attract attention and won’t go unnoticed. The cups feature printed images of Ilves Veikkausliiga players and have become collectible items among fans.
The packaging series uses easily recyclable cup and folding cardboard manufactured by MM Kotkamills. The wood raw material used in the cardboard has been sourced from sustainably managed, certified sources. Recycling the series packages is easy and cost-effective because the cardboards used in the series do not have a separate PE plastic layer requiring a separation process.

A modern packaging concept that includes a series of serving packages that are easy to take to one’s seat at a sports stadium. The recycling of the series packages has been nicely considered. The extremely appealing visual digital printing of the packages motivates fans to even keep the packages as memorabilia.
ScanStar awards are presented in connection with the Scanpack fair in Gothenburg in October. The ScanStar award entitles participation in the packaging world championships at WorldStar. Next, we’ll compete in the packaging world championships. 😊
